Christians believe that God owns the right to give and take away life (Deu 32:39), that God values human life above other life forms (John 3:16), and that He is intimately involved in forming each life within the womb, including the formation of gender (Ps 139:13, Gen 5:2).
Since humans bear God's image, anything that harms, mars, or distorts a human life also mars and distorts that reflection of God Himself. Therefore, Christians approach God-created human life with a sense of reverence for the Creator who is reflected in that life.
